Fiction Prices

I charge per chapter, based on average wordcount.

Let me explain.

I estimate a chapter in a fiction book to be 8-15 pages, or an average of 11-1/2 pages, 

Times New Roman, 12-point, line spacing of 1.5, 

making each chapter an AVERAGE of 4,000 words.

I rounded.

I try to make it easy. For you and for me.

I mean, I'm an editor, not a math professor.

Developmental Editing:  $55/chapter

(due before each chapter is edited)

Copy Editing:  $50/chapter

(due before each chapter is edited)

Proofreading:  $25/chapter

(due before each chapter is edited)

Full Package (all three levels):  $100/chapter

(For this 3-in-1 deal, you're basically getting the Proofreading for FREE. 

I do require half the total amount up front, and the rest upon completion.)

Note: If a lot of "fixing" and rewriting is required, 

then a dollar amount per hour might need to be discussed. 

Nonfiction Prices

Because chapters tend to be shorter in nonfiction works, 

I prefer to charge per word: 

Developmental Editing:  $0.01375/word

Copy Editing:  $0.0125/word

Proofreading:  $0.00625/word
